Compassionate Divorce: Communication Skills and Legal Support for a Healthy Transition

 This workshop has been CANCELLED

Jean Morrison  &  Monica Vantoch

Mediating attorney Monica Vantoch and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) trainer Jean Morrison team up to support individuals and couples that are divorcing, separating, considering it, or co-parenting. The weekend will be a safe haven providing sanity, compassion, and security to help you transition with grace, ease, and legal knowledge. The workshop provides clarity on legal aspects of divorce as well as the practice of compassionate and effective communication. This workshop is open to individuals and couples, couples counselors, and other professionals in the field.

Monica provides unique legal support that allows compassion for the process, strategies for resolution outside of court and legal protection. Individual, mini legal sessions with Monica guide you through the law and creative solutions for your personal circumstances. Sessions include legal guidelines for child and spousal support, assets and debts, and custody. The weekend will empower you with tools to move through your negotiations at home whether you are facing court, mediation, or resolving your divorce or separation on your own. Professionals will complete the weekend with a solid knowledge of basic family law.

Jean shares communication techniques and practice sessions so that you can effectively apply this practical information for each critical area when you return home. You will be shown how to communicate your needs, create new strategies, and face these challenging and essential conversations in areas such as the family home, co-parenting, finances, living arrangements, and the changing configuration of the relationship. NVC offers ways to be free of judgments, criticism, and power struggles by integrating new habits of mind and speech that include facts, feelings, needs, and requests. The model of “empathy and honesty” forms the foundation for this compassionate and empowering process.

CEUs available for MFTs and LCSWs.
