Shadow Yoga and Buddhist Meditation

Scott Blossom  &  Chandra Easton

Shadow Yoga is a Hatha yoga system that consists of circular and spiraling movements, warrior stances, sun salutation forms, as well as traditional seated postures designed to produce resonance in the body and mind for healing and meditation. Scott Blossom will teach one of the Shadow Yoga Preludes over this five-day workshop. The Preludes consist of a series of movements that are taught sequentially like a dance to prepare the body for asana-vinyasa (sequential yoga postures).

Chandra Easton will teach Buddhist meditation, specifically Shamatha (Calm Abiding) meditation which includes Mindfulness of the Breath as taught by the Buddha, as well as the Four Immeasurables (Brahmaviharas): Love, Compassion, Equanimity, and Joy. When cultivated, these four qualities help reduce negativity and bring about a compassionate heart toward self and others. The meditation sessions will consist of both guided and silent meditation, as well as discussion. All levels welcome. Please bring your own yoga mat, meditation cushion, and a journal.
