Right now, today, you can get oil out of your life and keep your modern lifestyle. Learn how to convert your personal footprint using practical steps, and in the process discover how living more sustainably is a gateway to happiness and health. You’ll be shown how to wean yourself from petroleum in three areas: your home (rural, suburban or a city apartment), vehicle, and food. We’ll walk through these crucial steps so you can live the rest of your life as part of the solution to pollution and climate change.
Workshop activities include:
• Slide show and interactive talk about how I got petroleum out of my life
• How to create a petroleum-free home, including a discussion of the ins and outs (and costs) of solar and other renewable power
• Meeting the transportation challenge. How to get fossil fuels out of our vehicles, including a tour of my vegetable oil-powered truck
• Food awareness and Esalen garden tour, including principles of carbon miles in food and how to buy or grow your food locally
• Your personal game plan. Combining personal instructor attention (everyone’s sustainability needs and goals are unique), group input, and your own inspiration, you'll sketch out a game plan for getting fossil fuels out of your life
You will end the weekend armed with the potential to be carbon neutral within one year, without giving up your Digital Age American lifestyle.
