Weekend of July 23-25, 2010
Choosing the Right Loved One and Deepening That Love: A Singles' Weekend
One of the most important decisions we as humans make is the choice of our partner. It affects happiness and health, spirituality and wealth, where we live, and the children to whom we give life. Yet the very chemistry that creates that choice often comes with the characteristics that undermine intimacy.
This singles weekend begins with the art and discipline of choosing the right partner by balancing the chemistry that creates love with the skills that create lasting love. It continues by helping participants learn to find a compassionate partner, and also become a passionate partner.
To those ends, Warren Farrell facilitates in-depth exercises, with members of each sex "walking a mile in the moccasins" of the other. To build enduring intimacy on a foundation of compassion, all participants are introduced to Cinematic Immersion, Dr. Farrell's method for handling personal criticism without becoming defensive.
Throughout, Dr. Farrell answers questions women have about men, such as "Why are men so afraid of expressing feelings and so fearful of commitment?" and questions men are afraid to ask, such as "If women are so liberated, why do so many still expect men to ask them out, pick them up, drive, pay for dinner, take all the sexual initiatives, and call them in the morning?" A common response to this workshop has been: "I’ve never felt so much compassion for the other sex." This workshop also offers perspective and tools to health care professionals who work with singles.
