Weekend of November 20-22, 2009
Trialogues on Global Human Potential
Ralph Abraham
&
Jean Houston
&
Mary Catherine Bateson
The trialogue format was developed at Esalen in the 1980s and ‘90s by Ralph Abraham, Terence McKenna, and Rupert Sheldrake. A trialogue is a spirited and far-reaching discussion among three extraordinary minds that roams freely across the universe and challenges mainstream assumptions about science, human cultures, and consciousness. The trialogue tradition was interrupted by Terence’s untimely death in 2000, but during this weekend workshop, the trialogue will be reborn as Ralph Abraham, chaos mathematician and philosopher, is joined by cultural anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson and visionary thinker and philosopher Jean Houston. Together they will explore our most pressing concerns—intellectual, moral, and political—in lively discussions among themselves and with the group. Topics may range from complex systems (such as the brain as a network of neurons, a community as a network of families and neighbors, or the world economy as a network of regional economies) to the noosphere, or sphere of human cognition, and beyond.
CEUs available for MFTs and LCSWs.
